Title Gluing Fukaya categories of pumpkin domains
Speaker, Affiliation Zack Sylvan, ETH Zürich
Date, Time 28 September 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract I'll define a new symplectic object called a pumpkin domain and construct its Fukaya category, which simultaneously generalizes the wrapped Fukaya category of a Liouville domain and the Fukaya-Seidel category of a Lefschetz fibration. Pumpkin domains come with a natural geometric gluing operation, which at the level of Fukaya categories corresponds to a certain pushout. After describing this, I'll give some simple applications and a conjectural connection to Legendrian contact homology.

Title Quantum Reidemeister torsion and open Gromov-Witten invariants
Speaker, Affiliation Francois Charette, Max Plank Institute, Bonn
Date, Time 5 October 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract I will explain how torsion of the pearl complex of a monotone Lagrangian can be expressed as a rational function of certain open Gromov-Witten invariants. Along the way, we will see new restrictions on the topology of displaceable Lagrangian 3-manifolds.

Title Floer theory on geometrically bounded symplectic manifolds
Speaker, Affiliation Yoel Groman, ETH Zürich
Date, Time 12 October 2015, 15:15-16:15
Location HG G 43
Abstract Symplectic cohomology is a version of Hamiltonian Floer homology applied to symplectic manifolds which are not closed. It comes in a relative version due to Ciliebak, Floer, and Hofer, and an absolute version due to Viterbo. These have been defined in a limited number of settings. One application of symplectic cohomolgy is a proof of the Weistein conjecture for \C^n. I will describe a symplectically invariant construction which extends both versions to geometrically bounded symplectic manifolds. The relation between the two versions will be discussed. I will discuss applications to the Weistein conjecture.

Abstract This talk is about joint work with Klaus Mohnke, in which we give an affirmative answer to a question by Michele Audin: Each (not necessarily monotone) Lagrangian torus in linear symplectic space has minimal Maslov number two. The main ingredient in the proof is a transversality result for punctured holomorphic curves, which is established using domain-dependent perturbations and Donaldson's symplectic hypersurfaces.

Title Birkhoff Conjecture for convex planar billiards and deformational spectral rigidity of planar domains
Speaker, Affiliation Vadim Kaloshin, University of Maryland
Date, Time 16 November 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract The classical Birkhoff conjecture states that the only integrable convex planar domains are circles and ellipses. In a joint work with A. Avila and J. De Simoi we show that this conjecture is true for perturbations of ellipses of small eccentricity. It turns out that the method of proof gives an insight into deformational spectral rigidity of planar axis symmetric domains. The latter is a joint work with J. De Simoi and Q. Wei.

Title Circle actions and the Fukaya category
Speaker, Affiliation Dmitry Tonkonog, Cambridge University
Date, Time 30 November 2015, 15:15-16:30

Abstract The talk will be about Fukaya algebras of monotone Lagrangian submanifolds which have a Hamiltonian circle symmetry. Namely, I will compute a "topological piece" of the closed-open string map into the Hochschild cohomology of such Lagrangians, and talk about applications: split-generation and non-formality results for real Lagrangian submanifolds of some toric varieties.
