Roger Käppeli: Senior Scientist position

Dr Roger Käppeli has been Senior Scientist at the Seminar for Applied Mathematics (SAM) since June 2020.

After his studies in physics, Roger Käppeli made his doctoral degree in theoretical physics at the University of Basel, where he also had his first postdoctoral position. In 2012, he joined the Seminar of Applied Mathematics (SAM) as a postdoctoral researcher. From May until October 2019, he was a visiting scientist at the Flash Center for Computational Science at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Chicago.

Roger Käppeli teaches high-performance computing and programming for Bachelor’s degree students in Computational Science and Engineering and gives service lectures on numerical methods for various engineering programmes at the ETH Zurich. His research interests are in the areas of numerical methods, computational astrophysics and high-performance computing.
