2016 Graduation Ceremony

On Friday 3 June, Mathematics, Statistics and Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) students celebrated the completion of their studies together with their family and friends.

The Graduation Ceremony was opened by Peter Bühlmann, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, followed by the external guest speaker Dr Daniel Stekhoven and study representative Oded Stein.

ETH Medal and Willi Studer Prize

As a part of the Ceremony, outstanding Master's theses were honoured with the ETH Medal and the best students in every Master's degree programme received the Willi Studer Prize.

ETH Medals

  • Andreas Wieser: "Linnik's problems: An ergodic theoretic proof of two equidistribution results", under the guidance of Prof. Manfred Einsiedler, Mathematics
  • Simon Etter: "Parallel tensor-formatted numerics for the chemical master equation", under the guidance of Prof. Christoph Schwab, CSE
  • Thomas Häner: "Theory implementation, and efficiency of quantum algorithms", under the guidance of Prof. Matthias Troyer, CSE

Willi Studer Prizes

  • Mathematics: Christian Brennecke, Simon Bruggmann, Nicolaus Heuer, Nikolas Kuhn, Daniel Robert-Nicoud, Andreas Wieser
  • CSE: Simon Etter
