The BBVA Foundation and the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society have awarded the 2015 Vincent Caselles Award to Javier Fresán postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Mathematics.

by Monika Krichel

Javier Fresan received the award for his contributions "on the boundary between number theory and algebraic geometry", namely for his work on the Gross-Deligne conjecture expressing periods of CM motives as products of special values of the gamma function.

The Vicent Caselles awards young mathematicians aged under thirty years and is named after the former professor at the universities of Valencia, Pompeu Fabra and the Balearic Islands in memory of his scientific and human personality.
