The conference: "Transport phenomena in collective dynamics: from micro to social hydrodynamics" brings together researchers working on different aspects of transport across multiple scales and present state of art theoretical and numerical results and their interplay with current applications. More than 70 participants have registered for the conference which has started today and will last until 4 November 2016.

As every fall, the Risk Day successfully took place at the ETH Zurich on 16 September 2016 and was again attended by almost 400 participants from academia and the financial and insurance industry as well as regulators.

The workshop: "Discrete Optimization" brings together researchers representing the whole spectrum of modern discrete optimization to communicate their newest results and discuss directions for future discoveries. More than 70 participants have registered for the workshop which has started today and will last until 26 August 2016.

The conference: "Analysis in the Large - Calculus of Variations, Dynamics, Geometry…" honours the work of Helmut Hofer, winner of the 2013 Heinz Hopf Prize. More than 150 participants from all over the world have registered for the conference which has started today and will last until 10 June 2016.

This workshop will bring together researchers representing the whole spectrum of probabilistic and extremal combinatorics, who will communicate new results and discuss directions for future discoveries. It has started today and is organised by Benjamin Sudakov.  

The conference with more than forty participants from all over the world has started today and will last until 16 April 2016. It is organized by Emmanuel Kowalski (D-MATH) and Philippe Michel (EPF Lausanne).

On behalf of the Abel Committee of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the Institute for Mathematical Research (FIM) is hosting a one-day symposium with talks given by Sir Michael Atiyah, John Rognes and Endre Szemerédi.

The conference with over 120 participants from all over the world has started on 11 January and will last until 15 January 2016. It is organised by Gérard Ben Arous (New York University), Erwin Bolthausen (University of Zurich), Vladas Sidoravicius (New York University) and Wendelin Werner (D-MATH).

The conference held on 11 September 2015 was attended by around 400 participants. It was organized by Professor Erich Walter Farkas (University of Zurich and ETH Zurich) and RiskLab Switzerland.

The conference on geometric non-linear analysis honours Prof. Michael Stuwe on his 60th birthday. It has started today, will last until 12 June 2015 and is organized by Michael Eichmair (University of Vienna), Gerhard Huisken (MFO) and Tristan Rivière (D-MATH).

50 years ago the Institute for Mathematical Research FIM was founded by ETH Professor Beno Eckmann (1917 - 2008).

The workshop with 89 participants from all over the world has started today and will last until 22 May 2015. It is organised by Henrik Iwaniec (Rutgers University/ETH Inst. for Theoretical Studies), Emmanuel Kowalski (D-MATH) and Philippe Michel (EPF Lausanne).

The University of Zurich and ETH Zurich host a spring school on Lévy processes. The School started on 29 March and will last until 2 April 2015.

The colloquium: "From robust to high-dimensional statistics: 50 years of statistics at ETH Zurich" celebrates the 50-year anniversary of Statistics at ETH Zurich. It is organized by the Seminar for Statistics, has started today and will last until 25 November 2014.

The 2014 conference celebrates 20 years from the establishment of the RiskLab at ETH Zurich around a team of scientists led by Prof. Paul Embrechts.

At this year's Paul Bernays Lectures, Vladimir Voevodsky speaks about the foundations of mathematics, type theory and univalent foundations. The lectures take place on 9-10 September 2015.

The conference covers latest developments in the analysis and numerical approximation of nonlinear PDEs and honours Prof. Eitan Tadmor on his 60th birthday. It is organised by Siddhartha Mishra (Seminar of Applied Mathematics) and will start today and will last until 10 September 2014.

The Summer School on the topic of "Advanced numerical methods for non-local operators" will start on 18 August and will last until 22 August 2014. It is organised by the Seminar for Applied Mathematics of the ETH Zurich and the Numerical Analysis Computational Mathematics Group of the University of Zurich.

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Demetrios Christodoulou will be plenary speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Seoul.
