Title Mass equidistribution of modular forms on nonsplit torus (QUER) in depth aspect, and the problem of nodal domains
Speaker, Affiliation Dr. Yueke Hu, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 20 November 2017, 16:15-17:15
Location HG G 19.2
Abstract I will first talk about my work on the QUER problem on nonsplit torus in depth aspect. We get not only an equidistribution result, but also an effective bound on the error terms. Such results are much better than known results on the same problem in the eigenvalue aspect. One of the key ingredient is the vanishing result for test vector of Waldspurger’s period integral.
Then I would like to review the work by Ghosh, Reznikov and Sarnak on the nodal domains for the real-valued Maass forms. I will talk about their strategy for this problem, and then start a discussion about this problem in level aspect.

Title The Gauss circle problem for the Heisenberg groups
Speaker, Affiliation Yoav Gat, ETH Zürich
Date, Time 27 November 2017, 16:15-17:15
Location HG G 19.2
Abstract In this talk I will formulate the Gauss circle problem in the context of the Heisenberg groups. In the case of the first Heisenberg group, the problem has been resolved, and I will present the main ingredients required for the proof. If time permits, I will discuss the higher dimensional case.

Title Analytic newvector theory over GL_n(R)
Speaker, Affiliation Subhajit Jana, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 18 December 2017, 16:15-17:15
Location HG G 19.2
Abstract I will discuss about local newvector theory over archimedean local fields. This is an analogue of the local newvector theory over GL_n(Q_p) pioneered by Casselman, Jacquet--Piatetski-Shapiro--Shalika. I will define and discuss about existence of such newvectors for n=2,3. I will also briefly discuss about possible applications of such newvectors in some global problems, for e.g. counting automorphic forms. This is an ongoing joint work with Paul D. Nelson.
