Deficiencies in the numerical computation of nozzle flow

(Report number 1992-05)

Abstract
We consider the steady flow in a Laval nozzle for Mach numbers ranging from the moderate supersonic ($M_{max}\approx 1.3$) to the very low speed case ($M_{max}\approx 0.006$). We compare the results obtained with four different numerical methods and we point out some deficiencies of Godunov-type schemes.

Keywords: Nozzle flow, Euler equations, low speed, conservation laws
