was awarded the Mascot 2014 best student presentation award for his talk on Multi-level Monte Carlo finite volume methods for stochastic systems of hyperbolic conservation laws by the Masnum-UQ consortium.

Dr. Sonja Cox was awarded the Stieltjes Prize for her thesis "Stochastic Differential Equations in Banach Spaces: Decoupling, Delay Equations and Approximations in Space and Time" defended at the Technical University of Delft on March 12th, 2012.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Schwab was awarded the ERC Advanced Grant, AdG, by the European Research Council for his research project "Sparse Tensor Approximations of High-Dimensional and stochastic Partial Differential Equations".
16 projects have been granted in mathematics in total in 2009. With 3 approved AdG's in 2009 the mathematics department of ETH is the institution with the highest number of grants approved.
