Sara van de Geer: Van Wijngaarden Award

The Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam has awarded the 2016 Van Wijngaarden Award to Professor Sara van de Geer.

Sara van de Geer has received the prize for her exceptional contribution to computer science and mathematics as an early pioneer developing the applications of empirical process theory indexed by functions to statistical methods for estimating abstract parameters. She works as a professor at the Seminar for Statistics (SfS).

Every five years the external pageCentrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam presents the Van Wijngaarden Award to a mathematician and computer scientist of special significance. The award is named after Adriaan van Wijngaarden (1916-1987), informatics pioneer and former director of the Mathematisch Centrum.
