Syllabus: We shall cover the first three chapters of the
textbook, without following it too closely. They include: complex
numbers, complex derivation, the Cauchy-Riemann equations, analytic
functions, complex line integrals, the Cauchy integral theorem, the
Cauchy integral formula, the fundamental theorem of algebra, the
maximum principal, power series, singularities, Laurent decomposition,
the residue theorem and its applications.
Grading: 20% homework, 20% each midterm, 40% final
GSI: Arturo Prat-Waldron. He holds office hours in
891 Evans, M 9:00am-10:00am, M 11:00am-3:00pm, and Tu 9:00am-2:00pm.
