Research area

Paul Biran’s research focus is on symplectic topology and algebraic geometry.

Paul Biran has been a full professor of mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, since 2009.

He was born 1969 in Bucharest, Romania. He moved with his family to Israel in 1971 where he grew up and received all his education.

He concluded his studies of mathematics at Tel-Aviv University, Israel, with a Bachelor Degree in 1994. In 1997 he gained his PhD from the same university.

During 1997-1999, Paul Biran was "Szego Assistant Professor" at Stanford University, USA. From 1997-2001 he was a lecturer at Tel-Aviv University, then a senior lecturer from 2001-2005 and was appointed associate professor in 2005 and full professor in 2008.
