Deformation Quantization has its origin in the transition from classical
to quantum mechanics: commutative coordinates on phase space
representing physical quantities are replaced by operators that fail to
be commutative.
Recent developments in the mathematical treatment of quantization led to
a mathematical discipline which has little to do with the original
physics problem, but turns out to have applications to many fields of
mathematics, including complex and algebraic geometry, representation
theory of Lie algebras, homotopical algebra and quantum field theory.
The aim of the conference is to discuss these developments and explore
future directions of research based on the idea of quantization.
The conference takes place in the Centro Stefano Franscini, on the top of the Monte Verità in Ascona (Switzerland), from 26 June to 1 July 2011.
The arrival day is Sunday, 26 June. There will be a free shuttle service on Sunday from the Locarno train station to the Centro Stefano Franscini. Here you find the schedule as well as check-in information.
