General information about Project NEPTUN can be found on the Neptun homepage.
Beginning in the winter semester 2002/2003, the Mathematics Department is participating in Project NEPTUN from the ETH Zurich. Also included is the Study Course for Computer-Aided Sciences (RW). The result of this will be "Neptun Lectures" in the department (and RW), in which using a "Neptun notebook" (notebook or macbook) equiped with special student software is recommended. Buying a laptop is not a must and is not a requirement to visit a Neptun lecture.
The Neptun laptops used in the D-MATH lectures will be IBM equiped notebooks with dual-boot Windows and Linux systems, please look at the notes regarding the particular operating system for which the software is available. The special software will only be offered to students which visit the Neptun lectures.
Further information about acquiring a laptop can be found on the Neptun homepage under HW-Offers. On the Neptun homepage you can also find information on the software bundle (under SW-Offers) as well as installation instructions.
