The Conference of Professors of the Department of Mathematics has decided to award the Heinz Hopf Prize 2011 to

Michael Rapoport (University of Bonn, Germany)

The award ceremony took place on October 25, 2011 at 6pm in HG G60 (Aula); the prize was presented by Prof. Dr. Ralph Eichler, President of ETH Zurich.

The prize winner gave the Heinz Hopf Lectures entitled HOW GEOMETRY MEETS ARITHMETIC on October 25 and 27, 2011 in HG G60 (Aula) at 5pm.

The Symposium took place on October 26, 2011 in HG D7.2 at 11 am (Ngô Bao Châu), 3 pm (Stephen Kudla), 4 pm (Guy Henniart).

Moreover, there was a symposium on October 26, 2011 in honor of this year's prize winner including the following speakers taking place in HG D7.2:

• Ngô Bao Châu (Chicago) at 11 am:
  Abelian fibration associated with the geometric side of the trace formula
• Stephen Kudla (Toronto) at 3 pm:
  Modular generating series for arithmetic special cycles
• Guy Henniart (Paris) at 4 pm:
  Modular Langlands correspondence: new avatars
