Finance
Finance is concerned with the analysis of financial markets and financial decision making. This can be decisions made within firms (Corporate Finance), decisions made by investors (Asset Allocation) or by financial intermediaries (Banking and Financial Engineering). In the sub-field of mathematical finance, a particular focus is on the measurement and management of financial risks, on the mathematical modelling of financial markets and on the pricing of complex financial instruments. Many of these problems can be tackled using mathematical tools from probabilty, statistics and numerical analysis.
This specialization requires a firm grounding in probability and stochastic processes. It is advised to combine it with one of the focus areas of Insurance Mathematics and Financial Engineering, Statistics or Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing.
