Structure of the Bachelor Programme in Mathematics


First Year of Studies

Education of general mathematical knowledge and training of mathematical thinking with the aim that the students discover and develop personal interests that serve as a base for the choice of subjects in the third year of study.

Second Year of Studies

Acquisition of further knowledge in various fields, that belongs to the indispensable toolkit of every mathematician.

Third Year of Studies

Beginning of specialization with the choice of advanced subjects from an annually changing selection of lectures and seminars in pure and applied mathematics. From this point on there is largely freedom of choice.



Bachelor programme
First year (Mathematics + Physics jointly)
Mandatory courses:

Analysis, Linear Algebra, Computer Science, Numerical Analysis, Physics

Second year
Mandatory courses:

Algebra, Algorithms and Complexity, Function Theory, Measure and Integral, Methods of Mathematical Physics, Numerical Analysis, Physics, Topology, Probability and Statistics

Third year
Choice of core courses, electives, complementary courses and seminars
Bachelor thesis
Master's programme
Master in Mathematics
Master in applied Mathematics
